Family & Neighborhood Supports
The Children's Board's Family & Neighborhood Supports help children, families and communities connect to services that help them achieve their dreams. Our work focuses around:
- Universal access - to primary prevention services help make children ready for school because they give children and families opportunities to congregate, share experiences and interest, and realize some of their aspirations in ways that enhance community cohesion and reinforce positive development for all community members.
- Networks of Service Delivery - families connected to neighborhood-based supportive networks and services, including primary services and institutions are strengthened in their ability to expose their children to activities and educational opportunities that will help them succeed.
- Family Self Sufficiency - increased employment and educational opportunities have a positive affect on outcomes for children and can improve neighborhood quality and the “school readiness” environment within a neighborhood or community.
- Resident/Citizen Engagement – increasing opportunities for residents, i.e. consumers, youth, seniors, etc. to become involved with improving services and support relevance, availability and quality and foster volunteer opportunities.
