Success in kindergarten through third grade is critical in establishing a lifelong direction of learning for every child. All children need to be equipped with the support necessary to learn at their fullest potential.
The Children’s Board improves early school success of Hillsborough County youth by making strategic investments to promote the transition of children between the ages of 5 to 8 from preschool through elementary school. We strive so that each child:
Our community partners provide key services to support these priorities, such as:

Child Victim Rapid Response (CVRR) School Program
(Child & Family Safety - School Program)
Who the Program Serves:
Child victims between the ages of five and eleven going to Mort or Miles Elementary schools and their families.
What the Program Does:
The Child Victim Rapid Response (CVRR) School Program is a school-based violence prevention and intervention program. The program works on finding children between the ages of five and eleven going to Mort or Miles Elementary schools who have been abused and neglected so that they can help them with the problems they have and help them adjust. CVRR offers help in a crisis, finds out what the child needs, then arranges for services, coordinating and monitoring them. CVRR evaluates the child and stands up for the victims and their families. The program teaches children how to plan for safe places, skills for doing well in life, how to control anger, not fighting, and how to handle fights at home. CVRR helps students and families find services in the community for people who have been hurt by violence. The program also shows school administrators, teachers and staff how to look for signs of child abuse, violence and how to legally report abuse so that child victims can be located and helped as early as possible.
