Patrons are now able to access the Tampa-Hillsborough Library System catalog via on-line and view Children's Board collection. 

Catalog

Mission: To provide an environment that promotes learning for the community with a special emphasis on issues affecting children and families.

The Library maintains many resources including:

  • nearly 3,000 books on a variety of subject areas
  • current issues of more than 85 different journals and newsletters
  • more than 150 different video titles and a personal video station for viewing them
  • a designated area for highlighting particular special interest titles
  • a special section for new materials  
  • a bulletin board containing information on upcoming training, community events, and public meetings.

Every month, the Children's Board adds new books to their collection. You may view the list here, or if you're interested in checking out materials, please contact Marci K. Delaney at 204-1741 or e-mail marcik@childrensboard.org

Resource Center staff is available to assist with locating items in the Library and for other information requests as needed.

Are you looking for demographic information or other facts about children and families? The Children's Board of Hillsborough County Library takes Information Requests. Please note that Information Requests may take up to 7 working days to complete (and up to two weeks on maps).

Computer Station

The computers are located inside the Library at the Children’s Board.

Mission: To provide easy access to learning opportunities for the community by supplying a gateway to on-line information sources, library collections, the World Wide Web via the Internet, and popular office software applications.

photo of information stationThe Computer Station contains three open-use computer workstations containing a variety of on-line resources including the following:

  • Access the Tampa Public Library collections and their searchable databases of publications on a variety of subject areas.
  • FC (Foundation Center) Search enables users to easily locate information regarding grant opportunities and foundation funding sources. 8.0 Version now available.
    Appointments can be made to help assist you.
  • FIND (Florida Information Network Database) is an easy to search database containing more than 3,000 federal, state and private grant programs. Appointments can be made to help assist you.
  • Access to the Internet is available to do searches.

Library staff can help troubleshoot with any computer related issues as well as provide assistance or training in using the software applications.

Kids Korner

Mission: To provide a child-friendly environment with materials to support interactive creative learning while families attend on-site activities.

The Kids Korner has the following available:

  • A computer workstation with age-appropriate interactive software
  • A children's library of books and cassette tapes
  • A collection of family oriented videotapes and a viewing area
  • A wide assortment of educational and skill building games as well as fun toys for all ages

Staff are available to provide assistance with the equipment and materials in the Kids Korner; however, families are responsible for supervising their children or arranging supervision while they are in the Kids Korner.
