Advocacy Committee
The Children’s Board Advocacy Committee:
- Guides the development of the Children's Board policy and advocacy agenda.
- Solicits input from community partners, stakeholders, youth, citizens, families and providers.
- Coordinates the annual Community Legislative Summit and produces the 2011 RED BOOK, a guide to Hillsborough County's top legislative priorities.
- Leads Children's Board efforts locally, in Tallahassee and in Washington D.C.
- Interfaces with local elected officials and community stakeholders.
- Develops and disseminates communications materials, newsletters, policy briefs and legislative alerts.
- Works closely with other Children’s Board staff members and outside committees to coordinate policy and advocacy efforts across the organization.
- Works with the Florida Children’s Services Council staff, other Children’s Services Councils, and with state and national advocacy groups such as the Federation of Families, the Children’s Campaign, the Center for Florida’s Children, the Children’s Defense Fund, the Child Welfare League of America and the Alliance for Children and Families.

Advocacy Committee Meetings
The Children’s Board Advocacy Committee members voted to hold monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. Meetings will be held at the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County located at 1002 E. Palm Avenue in Ybor City. If you are not able to attend, please call Amy Petrila at 813-204-1795 with suggestions or requests.
